A total number of 1,68,063 new cases of coronavirus are reported in India in the last 24 hours in the country. The active cases have been rising at a fast pace as the recoveries are less than the newly reported cases. The active case tally jumped from less than one lakh to 8,21,446 in a week. 69,959 people recovered completely from coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 277 people passed away in the country yesterday. The daily positivity rate climbed to 10.64 percent and the Omicron cases in the country are said to be 4461. The total number of fresh cases are down by 11,660 when compared to yesterday. The reported cases in the country yesterday are said to be 1,79,723.
The states and union territories imposed new restrictions considering the huge surge in the new cases. 66 prisoners and 48 staff members in Delhi jails are tested positive for coronavirus. The total death tally reported in India are said to be 4,84,213. Maharashtra, West Bengal, New Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are the worst-hit states in the country due to the coronavirus. USA reported 1.13 million new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours as per the reports from the Reuters. This is the highest single-day tally ever in a single day. The Indian government made it seven-day quarantine mandatory for the international travelers coming to the country and they are applied from Monday. IIT Kanpur experts said that the coronavirus wave would reach the peaks by the end of this month.
